Shana Norton Amos is a trained artist and holds a BA in Studio Art from Webster University as well as an Associate degree in Applied Science with an emphasis in Horticulture. Since graduating in 2009, she has honored a personal history via visual story telling.  Using older photographic contact printing methods, (mostly cyanotypes), she addresses personal and social issues in a manner that resonates with the mortality, emotion and spiritual aspects of our humanity.

Printing on both fabric and paper mediums, small and large scale, Shana uses light to evoke and confront the viewers.  The dark realities of the underbelly of society are presented in tandem with our inherent beauty.  The intention of the work is that of facing fears, and confronting subjects that we might rather ignore.

Shana has continued to seek a deeper more comprehensive means to support her personal truth, and has lately used sculpture and performance to compliment and enhance the translation of an inner dialogue we all seek to articulate.

Starting at RHD as a staff artist who directly supported special needs adults, Shana teaches, mentors and encourages the artists.  By creating classes that often required adaptive methods or innovative concepts, she worked to fully realize the artistic potential within each individual.

In 2010, Shana started working at Resources of Human Development of Missouri (RHD-MO) as a staff artist who directly supported special needs adults, teaching, mentoring and encouraging the artists.  By creating classes that often required adaptive methods or innovative concepts, she worked to fully realize the artistic potential within each individual.  Currently Shana serves as the Studio Curator for RDH, curating shows for Fine Line Studios and Blank Canvas Studio, both of which are part of the non-profit organization  that supports underserved populations.
